SCE POWER SAFETY POWER SHUT-OFF
DECEMBER 5, 2024 

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Emergency Services is closely monitoring a developing Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event announced by Southern California Edison (SCE). The event is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Due to forecasted winds and increased fire risk to SCE territory, SCE will actively monitor four circuits for potential power shutoffs.

MOUNTAIN INCIDENT INFORMATION

DISASTER LOAN OUTREACH CENTER

On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the U.S. Small Business Administration will open a local Disaster Loan Outreach Center at the Ventura County Office of Education to provide loan assistance to Ventura County residents impacted by the Mountain Fire.

On October 15, 2024, it was announced that funds for the Disaster Loan Program have been fully expended. While no new loans can be issued until Congress appropriates additional funding, we remain committed to supporting disaster survivors. Applications will continue to be accepted and processed to ensure individuals and businesses are prepared to receive assistance once funding becomes available.  For more information on disaster loans, visit SBA.gov.

The deadline to apply for property damage is Jan. 28, 2025.
The deadline to apply for economic injury is Aug. 29, 2025.

SBA Disaster Loans

  • Homeowners – up to $500,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate.
  • Homeowners & Renters – up to $100,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property, including personal vehicles.
  • Businesses/Private Non-Profit – up to $2 million to repair  or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery, equipment, inventory, etc. 
  • Economic Injury – to meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. 

Interest rates

  • Homeowners – 2.563%/30 years
  • Businesses – as low as 4%
  • Private Non-Profit –  3.625%

STRUCTURE DAMAGE INFORMATION

Ventura County Sheriff Emergency Services and the Cal Fire Damage Assessment Team continue to assess and validate structures impacted by the Mountain Incident. The full assessment is expected to conclude by 11/16/2024 however new data posts daily. A dashboard depicting damaged structures can be viewed by clicking the button below.
 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE RETURNING: 

As Evacuation Orders are downgraded to Evacuation Warnings, there is still an element of danger as fire crews may still mopping up hot spots and ensuring other hazards remain controlled.  There is still a chance that an Evacuation Order may be re-issued if dangerous conditions return.
