RAIN EVENT

A series of two mild rainstorms are forecasted to affect the Mountain Fire Burn Area over the next 5 days. The first storm is expected on Saturday November 23 and is forecasted to drop less than 1/2″ of rain. The second storm is forecasted for Tuesday November 26 and is also forecasted to drop less than a 1/2″ of rain. Although both of these storms are mild, residents should be alert to changing conditions including the possibility of minor nuisance flooding caused by clogged drains and runoff.  No major impacts are anticipated from this storm system.

SANDBAGS

While no major impacts are anticipated from the forecasted storm systems, sandbags are available for those whose property may be at risk for post-fire debris flow or prone to flooding. The sandbags are pre-filled. Please be prepared to lift and transport them or enlist assistance, if needed. The sandbags are staged on pallets at the following locations in Camarillo:

    • Mission Drive & San Clemente Way
    • Mission Drive & West Highland Drive

MOUNTAIN INCIDENT INFORMATION

LOCAL ASSISTANCE CENTER

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the County of Ventura and the City of Camarillo will open a Local Assistance Center (LAC) in support of Mountain Fire recovery efforts. Information will be available on-site on the following topics: rebuilding, tax relief, business and employment assistance, debris removal, permits, housing, rental assistance, vital records, property assessments, public assistance, crisis intervention stress management, and basic needs. Services such as replacement of driver’s licenses and connection to health care resources will also be available on site. The hours are subject to change depending on demand. The LAC will be staffed by a wide array of County, City, and State agencies, as well as a number of non-profit organizations. Bilingual staff will be available to provide assistance.

The Local Assistance Center will be closing Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 7pm. Connection to resources will be available on Ventura County Recovers

LONG TERM RECOVERY INFORMATION

Recovering from a wildfire is a long-term process and will take an immense amount of time and patience. The County of Ventura has a website dedicated to the Mountain Incident Recovery that includes a variety of information on health and safety, cleanup, rebuilding, donations and more. 
 

STRUCTURE DAMAGE INFORMATION

Ventura County Sheriff Emergency Services and the Cal Fire Damage Assessment Team continue to assess and validate structures impacted by the Mountain Incident. The full assessment is expected to conclude by 11/16/2024 however new data posts daily. A dashboard depicting damaged structures can be viewed by clicking the button below.
 

All Evacuation Orders have been downgraded to Evacuation Warnings as of 3:00pm on 11/14/24.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE RETURNING: 

As Evacuation Orders are downgraded to Evacuation Warnings, there is still an element of danger as fire crews may still mopping up hot spots and ensuring other hazards remain controlled.  There is still a chance that an Evacuation Order may be re-issued if dangerous conditions return.

We are grateful for the support, generosity, and offers of donations from our community. The Ventura County Community Foundation has set up a Ventura County Wildfire Relief and Recovery Fund to collect monetary donations. There are also many other local non-profit organizations joining the relief efforts. The County will continue to partner with non-profit organizations to provide assistance to those impacted by the fire. Please contact your favorite local non-profit organization directly to see if they are accepting in-kind donations. 

SANTA ANA WIND EVENT AND PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFF

Due to improvements in the weather forecast, Southern California Edison has ended the Public Safety Power Shutoff window early. No more circuits will be monitored for this event.
