FRANKLIN FIRE – LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Incident Summary
The Franklin Fire ignited at approximately 11:00 pm on Monday, December 9th, and quickly moved from its origin in Malibu Canyon area near Francisco Ranch toward the Pacific Coast Highway. The fire is currently estimated at 2712 acres. Evacuations and road closures are still in effect as fire fighters from multiple agencies work to contain the fire. SANTA ANA WIND EVENT & PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFFS
Weather Summary
The Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) portion of the RED FLAG WARNING issued by the National Weather Service concluded Tuesday, December 10th at 2pm for all areas of Ventura County except for the Santa Susana Mountains. Widespread Red Flag conditions are expected to continue and briefly intensify overnight before gradually dissipating Wednesday afternoon along the coast at 2pm and inland by 6pm. The weekend forecast ushers in cooler temperatures with a chance of light rain on Thursday.

Southern California Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS)
Southern California Edison continues to monitor circuits for possible Public Safety Power Shutoff until the conclusion of the event. The period of concern for most circuits ends Wednesday, December 11th at 12am. De-energized circuits require inspection for safety before re-energization can occur.

DISASTER LOAN OUTREACH CENTER
On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the U.S. Small Business Administration opened a local Disaster Loan Outreach Center to provide loan assistance to Ventura County residents impacted by the Mountain Fire. Residents may apply for SBA recovery assistance at the Ventura County Office of Education, located at 5100 Adolfo Road, Camarillo, CA 93012, Tuesdays-Saturdays from 9am-6pm. Applications are also welcome by phone at 800-659-2955 (Telecom Relay Service, dial 7-1-1) or online at SBA.gov/disaster. The deadline to apply for property damage is Jan. 28, 2025. The deadline to apply for economic injury is Aug. 29, 2025.

DISASTER LOAN OUTREACH CENTER
On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the U.S. Small Business Administration will open a local Disaster Loan Outreach Center at the Ventura County Office of Education to provide loan assistance to Ventura County residents impacted by the Mountain Fire.
On October 15, 2024, it was announced that funds for the Disaster Loan Program have been fully expended. While no new loans can be issued until Congress appropriates additional funding, we remain committed to supporting disaster survivors. Applications will continue to be accepted and processed to ensure individuals and businesses are prepared to receive assistance once funding becomes available.
